Important information for teams and players:

  • All players must be at least 16 years of age or year 12 at high school. This is for health and safety reasons and to make sure the league is fun for everyone.

  • Players can only play for one team – no fill ins, swapping etc. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis. In most cases this will trigger a win by default for the other team, unless the other team is happy to forego this.

  • Players must have played at least 3 games for their team prior to the play offs to be eligible to play in the play offs. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.

  • HCK does not actively monitor player eligibility in regard to the previous three points. It is the other team's responsibility to raise a protest before the end of the game if they believe a player is ineligible. At the end of the game, the result is final if no protest has been made.

  • Teams are expected to provide their own numbered playing singlets. Bibs will be provided as a last resort for a team’s first season only. If you are getting new playing tops printed up please make sure they have numbers both front and back.

  • If a team is late to a game and has made contact with the league coordinator in advance, the game will be delayed by 5 minutes, then the game clock will start and they will be penalised by two points for each additional minute they are late. If at least 4 players are not on the court by the start of the second quarter, the other team will win by default and the game cancelled. If a team is late and no contact has been made with the league coordinator, the game will be delayed by 5 minutes, if there has still been no contact then the game will be cancelled at this time and the other team awarded a win by default.

  • Referees and scorebench are provided, but we are always looking for more people to get involved. Please contact Lindsay if you are interested. Training is provided and officials are paid for each game.

  • All players are required to agree to the BBNZ Code of Conduct. We have a zero tolerance policy for violence, swearing, aggression and abuse of referees.
